1 Title: IMPACT OF PHILOSOPHY ON TECHNOLOGY EXPLORATORY EXAMINATION.pdf
Author: MICHAEL LAM
Abstract: The study of philosophy of technology not only focuses on the technology itself, but also on the reasonable judgment of the value of technology to humans. The reflection of visual philosophy is not limited to vision. Technological inventions often seem to make the eyes betray the mind. Visual philosophy needs to solve the problems of human beings with technology and technical rationality. The meaning and value of contemporary study of visual philosophy is embodied at this point. The content of visual philosophy, in addition to the exploration of the relationship of the eyes, brain, and thinking, also needs to reflect the relationship of human, vision, and technology. This can develop visual literacy education for the audience and the inventor of visual representations. Contemporary theoretical value of visual philosophy is to reconstruct a theory building of visual philosophy through historic and comparison methods, and to make up for the deficiency of the overall architecture of the visual philosophy studies. Author: ?????? ?????
Abstract: The Handbook of Epictetus strengthens the dynamic predisposition of the Stoics concerning human autonomy and self-control, which determine the quality of one’s actions and release one from his passions. This predisposition was transmitted to Byzantine thinkers such as Theodoros Metochites, who opposed to the instability of life the human proairesis. Theodoros Metochites in his massive work Hypomnimatismi and Seimeiosis gnomikai (Metochites 1966) expressed his views relating to sorrow and pains that a human being feels when he faces hard situations, either deriving from outer reasons or caused by his own will. 4 Title: AN ECONOMETRIC INVESTIGATION OF KEYNES CONSUMPTION-FUNCTION IN NIGERIA.pdf
Author: SYLVANUS AMADI, PhD.
Abstract: The objective of this paper is to examine empirically the Keynes’ consumption function in Nigeria between 1975 and 2004. The analytical framework employed is an econometric method, which incorporates a gamut of tests for stationarity, cointegration and specification of error correction model. Using data on gross consumption expenditures (Ct) and gross income (Ydt), the unit root test reveals that the variables were found to be non-stationary at levels, 1(0). However, these variables became stationary at first and second differenced operations. Following the general-to-specific rule of thumb proposed by Engel and Granger (1987), parsimonious error correction model results show that there exist both short-run and long- run relationship between the variables in Nigeria. The paper therefore recommends that the government should formulate and implement macroeconomic policies that will stimulate aggregate demand. This can be achieved through fiscal discipline and availability of accessible credit opportunities that will trigger investment decisions by investors. Keywords: Consumption, Disposable income, short run, stationarity and co-integration. View
5 Title: DYNAMICS AND DETERMINANTS OF THE EEAS-SYSTEM.pdf
Author: ?????? ???????
Abstract: At the beginning, it seems initiatory to emphasize the fact that the EU diplomatic system could be sui generis named on the basis of its numerous specificities, especially in functions generally assisting the main European Union institutions in their foreign affairs. It should be emphasized that their scope of duties and functions, if compared to national states` diplomacies, is wider and more complex. Seeing that the EU institutions are engaged in security and defense issues, an objective starting ground should include intention for scope of the Service duties to be extended. That kind of activity is, especially in the nowadays World, very complex and it requires both many specific skills and coordination of a special kind, therefore making a role of the EU Diplomatic Service more important. At the beginning, that kind of the Service information was blocked by numerous obstacles, among which the hardest ones to overcome were in domain of rising the necessary budgets. View
6 Title: STAFF DISCIPLINE AND EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF TERTIARY SCHOOLS IN SOUTH SOUTH GEO POLITICAL ZONE OF NIGERIA.pdf
Author: OKAI N. OKAI, PhD. AND PAUL WORLU, PhD.
Abstract: This study examines staff discipline and effective management of tertiary schools in the south-south geo-political zone of Nigeria. 2 research questions and 2 null hypotheses were generated to guide the study. Literature related to the study was reviewed for expert opinion. The sample of the study consisting of 320 academic staff was drawn from the public schools while 280 academic staff was drawn from the private schools. The collected data were first converted to means and further subjected to z-test. The means were used to derive the answers for the research questions, while the z-test was used to test the hypotheses of the study. Findings are that: there is no significant difference between the public and private tertiary schools in their mean opinion of disciplinary problems in tertiary schools; there is no significant difference between public and private tertiary schools in their mean opinion on how staff discipline can influence the effectiveness of tertiary schools. Recommendations include that the school authority should formulate polices that will help in curbing indiscipline among staff. Furthermore, erring staff should be punished so that it will serve as a deterrent to others. View
7 Title: INFLUENCE SOCIAL HEURISTICS ON BEHAVIORAL ECONOMICS.pdf
Author: ????? ??????? AND THAMOS VAMELEN
Abstract: Interpersonal communication as a trigger element of social heuristics, showed a great success in diffusing the Festival, reaching audience even beyond the limits that the use of mass media have by its nature. This communication was found accompanied by the influence on the decisions of the listener, causing persuasion to consume the mentioned cultural good. This is related to gregarious behavior in social heuristics, in the feature of likeminded members within a group or community associated with any given Cultural Event, if it evidences traits of intrinsic value directly related to belonging, social identity, and cohesion within communities or group members. This develops what Schiller R. (1995) called “loyalty-induced psychological motivation”, which as an indefectibly consequence leads to initiate a feed backed virtuous cycle of collective knowledge and interpersonal communication within a group, related to social values coming from the cultural event, that resists the test of time for generations, related to the tradition itself, and explaining behavior of consumers legitimized in habits. These elements can be beneficial for organizers of cultural events if properly managed, taking them as a marketing and positioning potential tool between the participating communities, or catastrophic in the case of ignoring the impact possibility related to the number of assistants, or its opportunity cost. 8 Title: CONCEPT OF AGE AND HEALTHFUL LIVING IN LEIBROCK AND TERRY STATE’.pdf
Author: JOLLY TOWNSEND
Abstract: Design components may be as simple as additional lighting, lever-style door handles, well-located storage, and slip-resistant flooring, or as extensive as an open floor plan with plenty of circulation space in single-level dwelling with a no-step floor surface. The cost for these changes may turn into an investment in the home’s value. Specifically, this paper examines three questions. First, how can principles of universal design be applied to the exterior entrances of existing homes to enhance the lives of homeowners aging in place with designs that compliment capabilities? Second, how can access to nature be added as a component to the home of aging adults? Third, what are examples of home entrances redesigned or retrofitted to improve the owner’s lifestyle and increase home values while the owner remains in his or her home? In summary, this paper purports to increase awareness of universal design and to provide ideas for retrofitting the entrances of existing homes for the purpose of successfully aging in place. View
9 Title: WELDING PRACTICE AND ARTISAN ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT IN RIVERS STATE NIGERIA.pdf
Author: AMADI, S. W. PhD. AND NWALA, AUGUSTINE ONUEGBU
Abstract: In Port Harcourt, and its environs, artisan-welder practice is a common feature. In the street where I live, one can count four of them, just like the churches in the neighborhood. These welders are at the top of their profession, practicing what they know best – fabrications. The beauty of this profession is that, they take up challenges in the fabrication of residential gates, tank stands, stair case rails and house protectors. They are so specialized in the fabrication of burglary proofs that except for the beauty of imported ones, the strength of their doors are commendable. Fabrication of window protectors with different artistic designs is a pride for any Nigerian welder. In effect, this has helped to reduce unemployment and helped Nigeria technologically move up the ladder in technology transfer. In fact, Nigerian welders are leading the West African sub region in pipeline fabrication and other forms of industrial applications. Ideally, this trade is purely Nigerian, for there is nothing the Nigerian welder cannot produce as far as welding is concerned. Hitherto, areas of improvement are in the provision of spare parts for our industries and for export. This paper takes the initiative in recognizing the impact these enterprising men and women has made in Nigeria’s economy. View

11 Title: INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT OF ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATES IN SOUTH-SOUTH NIGERIA.pdf
Author: OBARO ROSEMARIA CHINYERE, PhD.
Abstract: This study analyses instructional delivery and quality management of academic performance of university undergraduates in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The general impression that the quality of academic performance of undergraduates in the Nigerian universities is low led the researcher to take on this study. One research question and one hypothesis were posed for the study. This study adopted a descriptive survey design with a population of 5,686 academic and administrative staff of universities in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Stratified random sampling technique was used to draw a sample size of 1200 respondents from the population. The instrument used was tagged Instructional Delivery and Quality Management of Academic Performance Questionnaire “(IDQMPQ)” which was validated, and test-retest method was used to determine the reliability index of 0.86. Mean and rank order statistics were used for the analysis of research question while z-test was used to test the hypothesis. The findings of this study reveals that if quality management of instructional delivery methods are put in place, the lectures for the students will be obvious and clear; their participation in class discussion, cooperative learning and practical skills will enhance their academic performance to a great extent. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends among others that, university managers should regularly review and upgrade the instructional delivery methods to meet, and surpass the NUC standard. 12 Title: EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCE OF LECTURERS IN SELECTED TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN EBONYI STATE.pdf
Author: OGOLO JOHN IBINWANGI, PhD. AND ANYALOR CHICHI MAUREEN
Abstract: The main objective of the study is to ascertain the type of relationship that links employee engagement and performance of lecturers in selected tertiary institutions in Ebonyi State. The specific objective however is to find the nexus between employer reciprocity and lecturers research output. The study employed descriptive and correlation research design. Stratified random sampling was used to select the three tertiary institutions in Ebonyi State and the sample size of 314 lecturers was gotten through Taro Yamane formula. Copies of questionnaire were distributed to 314 lecturers but only 290 of them positively responded by returning the filled copies of questionnaires. The study adopted face to content validities. The reliability of the instrument was measured with Spearman Brown’s Split Half method which yielded the reliability coefficient of 0.835 which was deemed adequate for the study. The hypothesis was tested using Pearson Product Moment Coefficient. The result reveals that there is a positive relationship between employer reciprocity and lecturers research output with a coefficient of correlation (r) value of .710. The researchers concluded that, Employee Engagement is a two- way street and efforts should be made by management to nurture and develop engagement, managers of organisations must be conscious of the type of reward they give to their employees especially the ones that were valuable to them. This is because employees were more engaged when they felt their organizations cared about their wellbeing. It was recommended that management of higher education in Ebonyi State needs to develop and nurture engagement by providing monetary reward for publishing in top-ranked journals like Thompson Reuters, Emerald and Schimago, Sage, Elsevier etc since it increased lecturers and organizational visibility and ranking. Management should encourage lecturers by providing conducive environment, free access to download articles in international journals, provide grants and sponsor conferences.
